Requirements
Doodle Dogs is designed for indoor dogs with basic house manners. Please keep in mind that your dog does not have to be perfect, and young puppies with little training are welcome for an additional $5 daily fee.
Your dog MUST:
~ be fully housebroken. Puppies that are potty training are welcome at Doodle Dogs for an additional $5 daily fee as mentioned above. A play/potty/crate schedule will be developed according to your puppy’s needs or owner’s instruction and closely followed while staying with us;
~ be comfortable with other dogs of any size;
~ not be resource aggressive. Of course no dog is happy with another dog stealing his/her food or toys. However, if your dog has been known to actually bite to protect a toy or their food they cannot stay here. If it becomes apparent that your dog poses a risk of becoming seriously resource aggressive while in our care, your dog will be separated from the other dogs. In addition, a daily fee of $5 will be charged and payable upon your return.
Your dog cannot stay with Doodle Dogs if:
~ your dog is known to jump 5' fences or is an escape artist of sorts;
~ your dog is over 6 months of age and is not spayed or neutered. Exceptions to this requirement are hardly ever made. Further, any female that comes into her cycle while staying with us will be charged an additional $10 daily fee payable upon your return;
~ your dog is known to be very destructive, or is known to mark or urinate in others' homes. If your dog becomes destructive or begins to mark in our home there will be an additional $5 daily fee payable upon your return. This is due to the cost of carpet cleaning, as well as the additional supervision and confinement that will be required to prevent damage to our home.

In most cases, when the weather is not the best for being outdoors, your dog will spend a greater part of his/her time indoors as part of the Doodle Dog family. Our home is furnished with numerous dog beds designated for resting or quiet time. When not playing, your dog will enjoy chewing on indestructible toys like durable Nylabones, a dental chew or a stuffed Kong. The living room play area is furnished with a toy bin filled with clean, indestructible toys like Jolly Balls, Teaser Balls, Wubba Fetch Toys w/squeaky balls to name a few, and a variety of assorted durable rubber/fabric toys.
On rainy days, days that are not conducive to outdoor play, or just because days, there is indoor retrieving/tugging in the living/play area. There is room to throw a Hol-ee Roller or play an organized rope game of tug-a-war. There is also an endless supply of plush, squeaky toys, which are a great for keep-a-way or “find-it” games. To prevent ingestion or destruction, all destructible toys are kept out of reach, except when the dogs are directly supervised. Torn or shredded toys of any kind are immediately discarded.

Outdoor
Weather permitting; on nice days Doodle guests are welcomed to go outside to enjoy the weather and energetic play time on an acre of beautifully landscaped lawn. Some guests may not be so energetic, therefore they can either enjoy the outside weather in a supervised setting; or they can rest, but still watch, while spending time in an area sectioned off from the more active guests in the main yard. We have nearly an acre of fully fenced yard for the dogs to enjoy. The yard has numerous indestructible toys scattered about like hard plastic Teaser Balls and Jolly Balls. Sturdy, braided ropes are also available for those dogs that love to play tug-a-war with other dogs.
Moreover, Doodle Dogs maintains a sizable enclosure, solid wood fence facing the front of the house and chain link fencing open to the back. This yard was intended to be used for outdoor activity when the weather or yard is not in the best condition for multiple dogs. Playground chips cover the majority of the enclosure. Stately pine trees add plenty of shade as well pine needles to mix with the playground chips creating a soft carpet for playing or relaxing. Underneath the playground chips and pine needles is a layer of gravel/small stones to help with drainage. The enclosure is frequently scanned throughout the day for debris and picked up as needed. We also sanitize with a natural enzyme spray safe for kennel use and around animals. For the less active dog, the enclosed area offers open crates with bedding under a covered patio for a more den-like resting environment.

And a big plus, we have a bordering piece of yard exclusively used for agility practice and training. I also use this area for obedience practice and training should you, the owner, request maintenance training while you are away. During the sultry “dog days” of summer we offer a shallow doggie pool in the main yard and/or the enclosure as well as a sprinkler for cooling off and having fun.

Sleeping Accommodations
Determined on an individual basis and always taking the owner and dog's desires into consideration, I strive to offer sleeping accommodations similar to what your dog enjoys at home further enhancing his/her stay at Doodle Dogs. I provide a variety of options for all overnight dogs. Non-destructive dogs can sleep free in the dog room/living area with or without a dog bed; it’s up to them how comfortable they want to be. Other arrangements are made for dogs who may be destructive when unsupervised or have difficulty settling in for the night when away from home. For puppies or dogs that are known to be destructive, I will set up an extra-large crate with bedding and a chew toy to aid in settling in and sleeping thru the night. Crates are furnished with high-tech memory foam designed to conform to the dog’s weight and shape providing proper body alignment for a good night’s sleep.
Meals
Adult dogs are fed twice a day; at approximately 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Puppies are fed three times a day. Dogs are fed separate from one another to avoid any stress. Most guests bring their own food, to avoid any digestive problems from sudden food changes. Premium treats like Wellness WellBars, Solid Gold Jerky and Evo Grain Free biscuits are offered during their stay and are often stuffed in a Kong for those problem-solving dogs. I do not serve corn, wheat, soy, or animal by-products.

Supervision
At Doodle Dogs we offer virtually around the clock supervision and interaction. As a Doodle Dog guest, your dog will be living as a temporary member of our family. Dogs are only placed outside to play and potty if I am able to supervise them, either by direct interaction, or by viewing through a window.
Occasionally dogs will be left home, alone, for short periods if I have an appointment or need to be away from home. For their safety, dogs are never left outside when I am not home. During this alone time, dogs are separated from each other to avoid any risk of injury during unsupervised interaction, play or otherwise.
Non-destructive dog toys or a stuffed Kong are available to guests to challenge and keep them busy while I am away. For puppies that are not fully potty trained, or dogs that are known to be destructive when unsupervised, an extra-large crate, with or without bedding, and a chew toy will be set up in the living area. Dogs that live in the same home together will not be separated during my occasional times away.
Please see the Vaccine Guidelines for up-to-date vaccine standards followed by Doodle Dogs.
Thank you for your cooperation! Hope to see you soon!
